Two items are combined to make it work:
1. An Power Adapter to Bose Sounddock I to be able to charge iphone 3/4 or ipod touch.
2. A bluetooth music receiver (bluetooth wireless range is up to 60 ft). With this bluetooth device, your Bose SoundDock I speaker can play music from all brands of cell phones and tablets with bluetooth funtion, certainly including future Apple products with Apple Lightning connectors.
Special note for Sounddock I: Sounddock I has two types:
Type A: cannot charge iphone. This combination of power adapter + bluetooth music receiver will enable the bluetooth capability.
This combo package is special packed for this purpose.
Type B: can charge iphone. Don't need the power adapter.
